Cracked heels frequently occur due to a build up in callus. Open shoes or the summer heat can cause moisture loss which further dries out the skin.
The best at-home treatment is to regularly scrub feet with a pumice stone or callus file (purchased from your local chemist) and to keep the skin soft and moisturised with heel balm.
If cracks start to appear or the hard skin become uncomfortable, book an appointment to see one of our Podiatrists, who will manually remove the hard skin and cracks (completely pain-free), leaving your heels smoother and more comfortable.
