OUR PODIATRISTS

Andrew G. Bull

Andrew has been a sports podiatrist for over 20 years, and has consulted to The Wallabies, The Australian Sevens Rugby teams, the ARU High Performance Unit and The Sydney Swans during this time.

He has frequently lectured to post-graduate podiatrists on sports podiatry topics, with a special interest in hypermobility related problems and leg length discrepancies. Andrew has recently lectured in Port Macquarie, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth on these topics.

Andrew first saw a podiatrist as a teenager due to severe knee pain while representing his high school in Track Athletics and Cross Country. Several other treatments had failed and after finally being referred to a sports podiatrist and receiving prescription orthotics, he was back to running pain free within a week. This motivated him to study podiatry after benefiting so dramatically and immediately.

Andrew is a long-term member of the Sydney Striders running club and an occasional triathlete, having completed the Noosa Tri 5 times.

This enables Andrew to customise a treatment regime including:

  • Treatment of foot and ankle disorders, including skin and nail conditions (blisters, callous, ingrown toenails- conservative care and nail edge resection if appropriate)
  • Biomechanical causes of back, hip, knee, leg, ankle and foot pain
  • Prescription of corrective foot orthotics (to fit sports and/or fashion shoes)
  • Advice on appropriate stretching / strengthening and training programs
  • Advice on each person’s specific requirements in running shoes / football boots and other sporting footwear.

As a keen runner, cyclist and Army Reserve Infantry Officer, Andrew also has the insight and experience of over 20 years of private practice as a podiatrist, as well as over 20 years as a competitive runner (road and track up to state level).

Andrew has participated in sports as diverse as:

  • Running & Track
  • Distance Running & Cross Country
  • Cycling
  • Triathlon
  • Rugby
  • Soccer
  • Surfing
  • Rock Climbing
  • Thundercat Racing (5 x Australian Team)

Andrew has also been interviewed for foot related articles by publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, Men’s Health Magazine, Good Medicine, Slimming & Health, & Cosmopolitan. He is a previous NSW AAPSM representative.

Nick Marinos

Nick graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine. Since a young age Nick had always participated in a wide range of sports, fitness and weightlifting. Unfortunately, Nick experienced multiple injuries from playing soccer and weightlifting. After numerous failed attempts at treatment, Nick was fortunate enough to see a Podiatrist. This is when Nick received his first pair of orthotics and was back to squatting and playing soccer in no time.

Over the years, Nick developed a keen interest in biomechanics, soft tissue injuries and rehabilitation. This drive and motivation lead Nick to acquire both a Diploma of Fitness and a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine, making him an astute practitioner of the lower limb.

As an athlete, Nick understands the impact injuries have on physical and mental well-being, and how crucial it is to get back to doing what you love. Through extensive and thorough examination, Nick will focus on treating the cause of the injury and provide you with injury prevention strategies to improve your quality of life.

Nick will work with you to individually tailor a treatment plan to manage your:

  • Biomechanical concerns
  • Foot and ankle pain
  • Sport related injuries
  • Skin and nail conditions (callus, corns, blisters and fungal nails)
  • Ingrown toe nails
  • Diabetic foot

Nick will also provide tailored treatment plans and preventative strategies which may include:

  • Prescription of corrective foot orthotics (to fit fashion shoes/business/sports)
  • Off the shelf orthotics
  • Shockwave therapy for chronic soft tissue injuries
  • Strapping techniques
  • Rehabilitation
  • Stretching and strengthening programs
  • Footwear advice

  • Because you’d like to get it diagnosed and treated properly by an experienced practitioner the first time.
  • We are one of the most experienced sports podiatry clinics in Sydney and have consulted to elite teams such as the Wallabies, Australian Sevens Rugby Teams and The Swans.
  • We conduct an extremely detailed, thorough biomechanical and video treadmill gait examination looking for causes rather than just “band-aiding”
  • Our orthotics are durable and we also frequently use lightweight carbon-fibre, which is thinner and therefore less bulky, with a better spring and return rate than EVA (foam) or polypropylene, which most podiatrists prescribe because it’s cheaper. We use arguably the best orthotic laboratory in Australia. They have made the orthotics for the Wallabies, the Australian women’s and men’s Sevens Rugby teams and many elite AFL players. We have also treated a large number of “Ultra-Runners” who do events over many days, and train up to 500km a month.
  • We lecture to post-grad podiatrists frequently, and we have lectured all over Australia as part of the Australian Podiatry Council’s Biomechanics tour. Our principal podiatrist Andrew Bull has also lectured to a touring group of Chinese Olympic coaches and trainers at Sydney University. We frequently run in-service education about sports podiatry, orthotics and foot related problems to physiotherapy practices. (Please contact us if you’d like us to come and present to your staff).
  • We don’t charge for any follow-up visits or adjustments, as we rarely have them. Our lab also assures us we have one of the highest second pair re-order rates for orthotics in Australia (meaning happy, satisfied patients calling up to order a second pair for convenience: In a nutshell, nobody wants a second pair if they aren’t great).
  • We are runners and sportspeople too. We know our running and sports shoes extremely well, and we can recommend the right fit for you and then check it will work well with your orthotics. The wrong shoe can completely change the orthotics function, and make it over, or under correct.
  • Again, because you’d like to get it diagnosed and treated properly by an experienced practitioner the first time.
